The Internet of Things is big. IoT is on the mind of business leaders and CIO’s. It’s also daunting and out of the comfort zone for many companies’ operation and information technology teams who have massive logistical challenges, but no clear path to optimized solutions.
It doesn’t have to be this way. At Carnegie, we contend that any business that needs more efficiencies while maintaining security has a legitimate claim to the possibilities of connecting their devices. Longview is built on the premise of having one solution that can provide all the components, so you don’t have to worry about putting the pieces together. You just start using the solution to track your things and your people.
Here are three beliefs guiding our development of Longview’s IoT technology.
1) Finding a strong solution for your biggest logistical challenges shouldn’t be a logistical nightmare.
As this new era of connectivity creates unexpected blends of services, technologies, and applications, we throw down the gauntlet to apply forward-thinking innovation and creativity to real-world business objectives in a complete solution. Our initial applications in large outdoor industrial spaces have demonstrated that a secure enterprise solution can holistically address real-time asset tracking and sensor monitoring that deliver proven cost benefits. Longview addresses the local long-range distances—longer than Wi-Fi, Zigbee, and Bluetooth—without the requirement of being tied to a cellular LTE network.
These important objectives are not mutually exclusive. Indeed, they are as important to construction, refinery, and excavation sites using complex equipment as they are to smaller auto dealerships or even expansive urban utilities and smart city projects.
2) The best solutions shouldn’t be limited to any specific-size industry.
We go by the creed of always optimal, but we can just as easily extend that to across all-sized industries.
We aim to offer the antidote for a potentially paralyzing range of choices among vendors and service providers. We’ve brought Longview to market now, amidst an ever-evolving IoT landscape, because we can address your important business objectives and concerns from day one.
Following are a few of the compelling applications of our smarter IoT solutions:
OIL & GAS, MINING, AND CONSTRUCTION
- Monitoring of equipment, vehicle, and personnel locations
- Push buttons to alert for safety conditions
- Level monitors for tanks and trash bins
- Real-time alerting of gate openings
- Monitoring of expensive equipment locations
- Important supply tracking through their lifecycle
RESIDENTIAL MULTI-DWELLING UNITS
- Leak detection to prevent water damage
- Real-time alerting of door openings
- Rodent traps with monitors
- Smoke alarms, smart parking, and smart lighting solutions
- Real-time tracking of cars on the lot, so managers can give more attention to customers than to inventory
- Smart parking solutions that can show which spaces are available
Longview can also be a full solution for smart cities enablement, enhancing the reach and efficiency of city services through advanced real-time tracking of monitoring city vehicle distribution, sanitation/waste fullness, and street light and parking management.
3) Solutions should solve problems faced by everyone across the business lifecycle.
We believe in the emergence of non-cellular IoT, otherwise known as low-power wide area networks (LP-WANs), for broadly successful private network deployments. For our clients, we’ve eliminated the daunting prospect of researching, engaging, and deploying a complex ecosystem of partners by streamlining the IoT program lifecycle—from sensors to cloud analytics to the user experience.
We eliminate the need to customize or integrate multiple vendor platforms. We implement triple-layer security that’s integrated and optimized. Longview is LoRa standards-based, to which we add of private key-encoded physical security, allowing “a handshake for devices” via our own private security certificate.
And underpinning our system is hardware engineered for reliability, scale, and cost. We have built-in wireless meshing, to cover large areas without deploying lots of extra network equipment or relying on cellular service. This manifests not just in the abstract on spreadsheets, but in tangible ways for field workers and managers, such as by reducing time on-site for maintenance. Our patent-pending Super-B protocol works with standard LoRa protocols to enable in-field upgrades and bandwidth optimization.
What future do you believe in?
Your business’s ongoing success depends on the steps you take today—to find more ways to make your operations run more reliably, help your managers meet objectives, and ensure the integrity of your security. Ultimately, assuring your business’s performance is always optimal. That’s our strongest belief: with Longview, you can immediately get to work on achieving your business’s most pressing objectives, with tools that will enhance your core business processes and ensure your success in a hyperconnected world.
But don’t go on faith. Schedule a demo with us and let us know what kind of success would make a believer out of you.
